Il consiste \u00e0 introduire des copies saines du g\u00e8ne directement dans la r\u00e9tine, afin de favoriser la survie et le bon fonctionnement des cellules r\u00e9tiniennes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par l\u2013UCL Institute of Ophthalmology et le Moorfields Eye Hospital, avec le soutien de MeiraGTx, la th\u00e9rapie a \u00e9t\u00e9 administr\u00e9e \u00e0 un seul \u009cil chez chaque enfant, par mesure de pr\u00e9caution. Au cours des trois \u00e0 quatre ann\u00e9es suivant le traitement, les chercheurs ont observ\u00e9 une am\u00e9lioration marqu\u00e9e de la vision dans l\u2013\u009cil trait\u00e9, tandis que celle de l\u2013\u009cil non trait\u00e9 continuait \u00e0 se d\u00e9t\u00e9riorer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats de cette \u00e9tude, publi\u00e9s dans <em>The Lancet<\/em>, soulignent le potentiel de la th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique pr\u00e9coce pour restaurer la vision chez les enfants atteints de maladies r\u00e9tiniennes h\u00e9r\u00e9ditaires s\u00e9v\u00e8res.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les chercheurs travaillent maintenant \u00e0 rendre ce traitement accessible \u00e0 un plus grand nombre de patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00c0 propos de Vaincre la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9&nbsp;Canada<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaincre la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9&nbsp;Canada (VCC) est le premier bailleur de fonds priv\u00e9 de la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision au Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous donnons de l\u2013espoir aux Canadiennes et Canadiens en ciblant les recherches les plus prometteuses, susceptibles d\u2013aboutir \u00e0 des traitements et \u00e0 la gu\u00e9rison des maladies occasionnant la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9. Nous r\u00e9coltons et g\u00e9rons des fonds destin\u00e9s \u00e0 soutenir ces recherches essentielles visant \u00e0 r\u00e9tablir la vue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au cours de nos 45 ann\u00e9es d\u2013existence, nous avons investi plus de 40 millions de dollars pour appuyer la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision partout au Canada. Voil\u00e0 qui repr\u00e9sente plus de 200 subventions de recherche s\u2013\u00e9tant traduites par plus de 600 d\u00e9couvertes dans des domaines comme la recherche sur les cellules souches, les th\u00e9rapies neuroprotectrices, les innovations technologiques, les produits pharmaceutiques et les th\u00e9rapies g\u00e9niques. Nous nous engageons en outre \u00e0 nouer des partenariats pour financer la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision au Canada et dans le monde. Ces partenariats nous ont permis de d\u00e9bloquer plus de 10 millions de dollars au profit de la recherche.
