Leurs travaux, publi\u00e9s dans <em>Nature Communications<\/em>, ouvrent la voie \u00e0 de nouvelles strat\u00e9gies pour restaurer la vision en stimulant la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration des cellules nerveuses perdues dans des maladies d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratives telles que la r\u00e9tinite pigmentaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2013\u00e9quipe s\u2013est pench\u00e9e sur les cellules gliales de M\u00fcller \u0097 des cellules de soutien de la r\u00e9tine qui, chez le poisson, peuvent se transformer en nouveaux neurones, mais pas chez les mammif\u00e8res. La raison ? Chez ces derniers, une prot\u00e9ine appel\u00e9e PROX1, produite par les cellules nerveuses r\u00e9tiniennes endommag\u00e9es, p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans les cellules de M\u00fcller et bloque le processus de r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration. Chez le poisson, cette prot\u00e9ine est absente de ces cellules, permettant ainsi la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour contourner cet obstacle, l\u2013\u00e9quipe de KAIST a mis au point une th\u00e9rapie par anticorps capable de bloquer l\u2013entr\u00e9e de la prot\u00e9ine PROX1 dans les cellules de M\u00fcller.
