Chez des animaux atteints de glaucome, ce suppl\u00e9ment vitaminique a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 le nerf optique, m\u00eame lorsque la pression oculaire n\u2013\u00e9tait pas trait\u00e9e. Ces r\u00e9sultats prometteurs, publi\u00e9s dans <em>Cell Reports Medicine<\/em>, ont men\u00e9 au lancement d\u2013un essai clinique actuellement en cours \u00e0 Stockholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le glaucome endommage g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement le nerf optique en raison d\u2013une pression intraoculaire \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Toutefois, des chercheurs de l\u2013Institut Karolinska ont d\u00e9couvert qu\u2013un ralentissement du m\u00e9tabolisme r\u00e9tinien pourrait aussi jouer un r\u00f4le important dans la perte de vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon leur \u00e9tude, l\u2013\u009cil atteint de glaucome aurait de la difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 utiliser certaines vitamines essentielles au bon fonctionnement du m\u00e9tabolisme. En administrant ces vitamines dans un mod\u00e8le animal, les chercheurs ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 r\u00e9duire et, dans certains cas, \u00e0 stopper les dommages au nerf optique, ouvrant la voie \u00e0 une nouvelle strat\u00e9gie prometteuse pour la protection de la vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00c0 propos de Vaincre la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9&nbsp;Canada<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaincre la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9&nbsp;Canada (VCC) est le premier bailleur de fonds priv\u00e9 de la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision au Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous donnons de l\u2013espoir aux Canadiennes et Canadiens en ciblant les recherches les plus prometteuses, susceptibles d\u2013aboutir \u00e0 des traitements et \u00e0 la gu\u00e9rison des maladies occasionnant la&nbsp;c\u00e9cit\u00e9. Nous r\u00e9coltons et g\u00e9rons des fonds destin\u00e9s \u00e0 soutenir ces recherches essentielles visant \u00e0 r\u00e9tablir la vue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au cours de nos 45 ann\u00e9es d\u2013existence, nous avons investi plus de 40 millions de dollars pour appuyer la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision partout au Canada. Voil\u00e0 qui repr\u00e9sente plus de 200 subventions de recherche s\u2013\u00e9tant traduites par plus de 600 d\u00e9couvertes dans des domaines comme la recherche sur les cellules souches, les th\u00e9rapies neuroprotectrices, les innovations technologiques, les produits pharmaceutiques et les th\u00e9rapies g\u00e9niques. Nous nous engageons en outre \u00e0 nouer des partenariats pour financer la recherche en sant\u00e9 de la vision au Canada et dans le monde. Ces partenariats nous ont permis de d\u00e9bloquer plus de 10 millions de dollars au profit de la recherche.
